Am trying to find any information about why my grandmother was spent time at Bedford Hills Reformatory in about 1927/1928. I believe she would have given birth during her time there as well. I have contacted Westchester County archives, NY state archives, Bedford Hills Historical Society to name a few. My last hope is to page through port chester or New Rochelle newspapers to see if her arrest or sentence would have made the papers? I am in Washington State and can request those through inter-library loan. If anyone has a suggestion I would be very grateful!

Interestingly I am also
Interestingly I am also seeking similar information. My grandmother was in WCA Sing Sing records as serving 4 days for probation violation. Just recently I found a baptismal registration for my aunt at St Lukes in Bedford, 1939. The scan of the entry was on Ancestry. The record referenced the City Mission Society. I already knew she had given birth while incarcerated. I wrote the church and they did not have record of my aunt being bapt. there. I wrote back inquiring if they did baptisms off premises in other institutions I have not received a response yet.
New York, Episcopal Diocese of New York Church Records, 1767-1970~ Ancestry Collection Title
I would search Fulton History for a newspaper mention. I never did find a mention of my grandmother's arrest. My grandfather I found 2-3 of his run ins with the law in the newspapers.
Good luck! I am also in the NW and would be interested in hearing how you made out.

Sherri
